Nicolaes Visscher’s ‘Leo Belgicus’ map of 1650 is one of a genre of Dutch printed maps in which the form of a lion is superimposed onto the 17 United Provinces of the Netherlands.

The Nuremberg Chronicle is an illustrated Biblical paraphrase and world history that follows the story of human history related in the Bible; it includes the histories of a number of important Western cities. Written in Latin by Hartmann Schedel, with a version in German, translation by Georg Alt, it appeared in 1493. It is one of the best-documented early printed books—an incunabulum —and one of the first to successfully integrate illustrations and text.

Amazon River map (1923) reproduction of a map of the Amazon river originally sent in 1639 to the president of the Consejo de Indias (Council of the Indias, the most important administrative organ of the Spanish Empire). It was part of a report "Discovery of the river of the Amazons", what we now call the Amazon river. This vintage map shows the river throughout its length from Ecuador to its mouth in the Atlantic ocean, as seen by the Spaniards during the 17th. century.
