// Repin of the Day: #40 of 365 // Info provided by poster: LED-light cathedral created for the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium. // Additional notes: (via This Is Colossal): The Luminarie De Cagna is an imposing cathedral-like structure that was on display at the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium. The festival was host to almost 30 exhibitions including plenty of 3D projection mapping, fields of luminous flowers, and a glowing phone booth aquarium, however with 55,000 LEDs and towering 28 meters (91.86 feet) high, the Luminarie De Cagna seems to have stolen the show. Watch video: and (via Light Festival Ghent official site): During the 2012 Ghent Light Festival, Belfortstraat (Belfort Street) was the domain of the Luminarie Cagna. A giant colonnade made of wood and hundreds of thousands of colored lights, with arches reminiscent of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. The entrance area is an imposing 28 meters (91.86 feet) high. The audience walks into a fairy tale gallery, surrounded by light and color. Energy wasted? On the contrary, this immense work of art with 55,000 LED lights consumes only 20Kwatt/h of electricity. More: // Repin. // Found by @RandomMagicTour - Sasha Soren
