There are three of these "Good Eats" books: "The Early Years", "The Middle Years" and "The Later Years" and each one is great. Based on the TV show, the idea is that, in order to really cook, you need to understand WHY things work the way they do. Otherwise, you'll always be tied to a recipe. That being said, there are a lot of recipes in these books, and I basically follow them.
