    The theory: Stones painted as strawberries when put around strawberry plants in the spring will keep birds from eating your berries because by the time the real berries ripen the birds have become conditioned to think the ripened berries are stones. I'm going to try this next spring; The children will love painting stone berries! (Click through for a detailed painting tutorial.) it would be super cute to scatter them in the garden even if the theory doesn't work!!
