TEXT TO WORLD CONNECTIONS. It's important that we are continuously making worldly connections to everything that we do in the classroom. We want our students to see how beneficial their academia is to their lives in the long run. Even a worksheet as simple as this can spark a lot of conversation, just simply when reading a book. - Kaitlyn Griep
During reader's workshop we used the book The Snowy Day to respond to literature. Here are some of the activities we did. We made text-to-self connections. They drew Peter in the snow and then they drew themselves in the snow. They loved this activity.
This is perfect! How many times do kids just make random connections that get them away from the text instead of into it?
