Foldable idea for root words On top of the flap they wrote the word they chose. Under the flap they had to write the definition and a sentence, some chose to draw a picture too.

Word Identification #2- The Root of it All Bulletin Board. This would be great for learning any prefixes, suffixes, and root words. Have students place similar prefixes, suffixes, or root word on a certain part of the tree. Like un- on the branches and in- on the bark of the tree.

On the top row we have our prefixes. On a notecard I write the prefix/suffix/root that we are studying, what it is, and the meaning. On each leaf (simply a di-cut) I write the words that we found, use, and are studying. From Dandelions and dragonflies

This is a great way for students to learn their prefixes. Under each flap their is a list of words that uses each prefix. This is a good tool to have when students are writing. They could do this in their writing journals so when they are stuck they know where it is.

Word Identification 2- Word Part Tree- This is an activity in which students can help to create the parts of the tree. I would use this with my class and help them build all the parts of the tree.
