    The Rock, Zanzibar. Rock Restaurant rises on a rock not too distant from the shore of the beautiful Michanwi Pingwe beach. At low tide, one can simply walk up to the restaurant. But at high tide, the Rock becomes surrounded by amazing turquoise waters. The restaurant will send a long boat to transport you ashore. It serves up to 14 tables, all facing a wonderful terrace on the Ocean so you need to book early.

Haystack Rock, Oregon Coast. Composed of basalt, Haystack Rock was formed by lava flows emanating from the Grand Ronde Mountains 10 to 17 million years ago. The Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, sea anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a nesting site for many sea birds, including terns and puffins.
