Amish girl filling oil lamps on the window sill. Love it! (My own great grandmother never used electricity but preferred oil lamps - we helped fill her lamps and also filled her corn cob storage for her wood burning stove - her heat and cooking)

Amish praying I love this photo I do hate his face is showing as I know they do not like that...I wish the photographer had used respect on that part. I love the simplicity of this photo.

I grew up seeing the Amish buggy's rolling up and down the roads. Mrs. Graber used to sell her eggs door to door. I love their lifestyle of simplicity and God. The tv show about them is a lie and it angers me. They are joyful, God loving people.

Jackie Antos.....curious, where did you live? My maiden name is Graber and most all of my family on my dad's side are Amish. They live in the Shipshewana area of IN. Just wondered if your "Mrs. Graber" was maybe a relative! :)

My Mrs. Graber was from small Montgomery, Indiana. It's where my grandparents lived and I spent most of my summers and free time there. Love it there!

A few hours away, but may be a relative, none the less. Glad you have great memories from there. :)

"Lord, I will follow You, but . .." Luke 9:61 When God tells you to do a thing that tests and opposes your common sense, you will come to what He wants, but turn back at the point of testing until you abandon to God by total surrender. Instead, you will say, “Yes, but, if I obey God, what about . . . ?”But If you are going to obey, He demands you risk what you believe by common sense. When you have faith in what He says, you find that He is consistent with common sense.(Oswald Chambers)

I am so glad Pinterest is here to protect our eyes from filthiness.

Amish rollerbladers- This reminds me of what I see so often this time of year on our hill! They also ride scooters past the house, but not bicycles.
