When your illness is invisible it's easy to pretend that life is good and you feel great. "I'm ok" (but I'm not) "I feel well" (but I don't) "This pain isn't a big deal" (but it is)  Meanwhile the underlying symptoms and pain get ignored. Steps aren't taken for recovery.
