The Lady Amherst's Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) is native to SW China & Burma, but have been introduced elsewhere. The male is unmistakable w its black & silver head, long grey tail & rump & red, blue, white & yellow body plumage. The "cape" can be raised in display. The female is much less showy, w a duller mottled brown plumage all over. These birds are very difficult to see in their natural habitat, which is dense, dark forests w thick undergrowth. The Wilson's Bird-of-paradise (Cicinnurus respublica) is a passerine bird of the Paradisaeidae family living in Indonesia in the hill & lowland rainforests of Waigeo & Batanta Islands off West Papua. The diet consists mainly of fruits & small insects. Due to ongoing habitat loss, limited range & exploitation, the Wilson's Bird-of-paradise is evaluated as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
