Nick Gentry (painter) created “Monarch,” a portrait, using oil paint and computer disks on wood. Gentry used these materials to emphasis the importance of personal objects and recycling. Gentry’s work is an example of post-modernism because it is a portrait of a real person but is painted with oil paint making it look realistic but is not real. I enjoy Gentry’s work because of the interesting materials used and the way he goes about executing the product.
