children - i would put this on a bigger board with pictures of the kids and parents on it for a GIFT !

True! And I know I need the reminder, for patience is definitely not my strong point! Reminds me of the quote attributed to George Washington Carver ... "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong, because someday in life you will have been all of these."
Children will not remember you for the material things you provided them but for the feeling that you cherished them.
while I do agree with this, I believe said child(ten) will remember the feeling of being left out when say, a grandparent, buys more for the other grandchild and seems to forget the others or spends significantly less, very obviously less. That makes em feel like crap and way less important. Add in zero time spent with said child from grandparent and there ya go.
