For two months, Illustrator and cartoonist Jillian Tamaki worked on a very cool project with Penguin Classics. She hand embroidered three literary classics in her signature style! (The covers actually wrap around and include french flaps.) To really understand the level of detail and the amount of patience this project must have required, check out the making-of photos on her blog.
Love the Perfume book cover by UK illustrator and designer Kirsty White, which won the 2010 Penguin Design Award. The beautiful drawing, which is inspired by 18th century French patterns and style, certainly adds mystery and creates an illusion of scent to the book.
