This is The Long Room at Trinity College Library of Dublin, Ireland. It is the largest library in Ireland, and was established by Elizabeth I in 1592. It holds all the copyrighted books published in Ireland. The Long Room is home to the Book of Kells, the beautifully illustrated Latin manuscript of the four Gospels of the New Testament. Created around 800A.D., it is an "illuminated" manuscript, which refers to the brilliant colors used to artistically illustrate each page. The glowing colors were achieved using a variety of pigments, from crushed oak apples to lapis lazuli to beetle's wings. This beautiful work of art has been in the possession of Trinity College since 1661. The Long Room is known as "the cathedral of the Book."
