Antonio Canova | Venus Italica - Probably ca. 1822–23, variant of marble firsexecuted 1810. Height: 69 in. My favorite!,,,
Another one with the draped braids like like to do. I'm really interesting on what's going on in with the loose hair too the side too. Maybe a really loose braid on curly hair, but the braid seems to start above the circlet. I need to get some more angles.
Undine (detail) by Chauncey Ives. Reminds me of Robert Herrick's poem, Upon Julia's Clothes (one of my favorites): Whenas in silks my Julia goes, then, then, methinks, how sweetly flows that liquefaction of her clothes. Next, when I cast mine eyes and see that brave vibration each way free, oh, how that glittering taketh me!
