Quiet Critters - only come out of the jar when it's quiet!

Basically, you make the quiet critters with a pom-pom, heart-shaped foam piece (for the feet) and mini wiggle eyes. I tell my students that my "quiet critters" need a friend to take care of them, but they only can survive/like QUIET friends. GUESS WHAT? Instantly quiet class. The kids love them. My kids have named their quiet critters and made homes for them.

Make a cloud inside a jar for your kids. Then let the cloud out to let the kids touch it!

This article has some interesting ideas for classroom organization, but I really like the idea of "reading buddies." Students can get excited to read and gave a stuffed animal to hold onto. It could even be a character in the book! -Ms. Finley
