Make a few "New Student" baggies with 5 extra of everything in them. As you organize things for your classroom during the summer, put the extras in these baggies (in preparation for students that would arrive mid-year). Now, you can just pull the “New Student" baggies out when you get a new student and all you have to do is add his/her name on the supplies.

Put student's names on the back of YOUR nametag so that you won't have to worry about finding the list during something like a firedrill. Most brilliant idea ever.

Makes them accountable for leaving cap off, writing too hard, losing, etc. Great idea to teach responsibility!... doing this for sure next year!

Build a Sight Word (plus recording sheet)

This is so inspired: teach your kids how to spell with connectable blocks like legos. Learning key skills can be fun! Parents and teachers alike will love this.

Good Idea: Put an absent folder on the absent student's desk. The students at their table will make sure they get all of the work we do that day put in their folder. Check their folder at the end of the day and make sure there are not tests or activities that can only be done whole class. Then, when that student returns the next day, they put their folder in their backpack. The instructions to the parents are on the folder.
