'Zion Ho' by Minerva Teichert. This painting depicts the Mormon pioneers reaching the Salt Lake Valley. A woman beckons the others behind her to hurry. The pioneers are pushing a 'handcart' in lieu of having a covered wagon with oxen ~ they walked the 1300 miles to their new home. The woman's paisley dress was patterned after a scrap of fabric that a relative gave Minerva, that was said to be from her Maternal great-grandmother's wedding dress. A wonderful tribute to her pioneer ancestor.
