The Bizarre, Flexible Paper Sculptures of Li Hongbo. The artist lift a sculpture using only paper, thinking of the form and structure. Those pieces seem to me the materialization of the art history/process. I mean, pretty much every artist who has ever created art has been inspired by the work of other artists. Every art piece is built up with the same concepts and similar aesthetics but you make it your own.
Inspired by the honeycomb-cut paper decorations popular in Chinese festivities, Beijing-based artist Li Hongbo uses the same technique to create otherworldly sculptures that look like they’re made of plaster when resting, but have the ability to accordion out to bizarre proportions.
Flexible Paper Sculptures Bend Reality + Warp Perceptions - At first glance, these sculptures look just like delicate porcelain or ceramic – but they hide a surprising secret. Beijing artist Li Hongbo‘s sculptures are actually made of thousands of layers of plain white paper, glued together into heavy accordion-like shapes that only appear totally solid when they are still.

Welcome to rural Sweden, sometime in the late '80s. Citizens go about their mundane lives and children explore the countryside. But something isn't quite right. Robots and hovercrafts are commonplace, and decaying science facilities sprout from the harsh Scandinavian landscape. There's even a rumor circulating that dinosaurs have returned from the dead after some failed experiment. This is the world that exists in artist Simon Stålenhag's mind, and it's only accessible through his paintings. …

Yoan Capote's sculptural monument to stress; from the blog Exhibition-ism.com
The idea of this work comes from a personal experience of the artist, Yoan Capote, to push the teeth the effect of stress, but we can also consider this sculpture as a monument to the collective experience of stress in contemporary urban life.
