The Flinch eBook: Julien Smith: Kindle Store The idea is simple: your flinch mechanism can save your life. It short-circuits the conscious mind and allows you to pull back and avoid danger faster than you can even imagine it’s there. But what if danger is exactly what you need? What if facing the flinch is the one best way to get what you want?

The Flinch, by Julien Smith - great book on leadership and facing your fears. Lessons from martial artists, fights, and other such people. I love the idea of pattern interrupts or "disruptions" to get you going.

"The Flinch by Julien Smith: super short book, and fun to read. The biggest takeaway I had from this book was to use the instinct to flinch away to instead flinch forward. I like that idea. I'm not convinced doing flinch-worthy things like taking cold showers will help (I am a nervous person but take cold showers all the time), but interesting thoughts. Oh, and it's free so you've only got your time to lose."

"Memoirs of a Geisha": "This book really is as good as they say. I'm not a certified expert, but I know more about geishas now than I did before. Although this was written as a pseudo-biography, I'm not quite sure how I feel about who Sayuri ended up with romantically. It seemed kind of out there to me, but oh well, still an amazing book."
