Never judge the hunger games by its movie
So true. My favorite #books made for terrible #movies! (Excepting Harry Potter, in which both books and movies were good but in different ways.)
True story. I have read so many books then have seen the movies and been disappointed.

Awesome quote (saw it here: http://loki-has-stolen-the-tardis.tumblr.com/post/80797258491/gonesherlocking-nevergrowup-beyoungforever)
Amazing author's note. "This is a work of fiction. Still, given an infinite number of possible worlds, it must be true on one of them. And if a story set in an infinite number of possible universes is true in one of them, then it must be true in all of them. So maybe it's not as fictional as we think." - "InterWorld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves

Grace Reading at Howth Bay (c.1900). William Orpen (Irish, 1878–1931). Oil on canvas. Painted during Orpen’s summer holidays at Howth Head, a point north of Dublin Bay. It portrays Orpen’s wife Grace standing above the bay reading a book, her hat blocking the sun’s rays. The wind lifts the bottom of her dress and causes her to hold on to her hat. The sense of motion is re-inforced by the scudding clouds in the sky behind her.

I love all things Larry McMurtry. Great book & great movie with Robert Duvall - can't help but wonder if the real life Texas ranchers Loving & Goodnight inspired this epic novel.
Well worth reading.
Lonesome Dove Great books and the movies are fantastic
While reading, in order, every Pulitzer Prize winning fiction book published in my 63-year lifetime, I dreaded getting to this one, because of its thickness. I thought it would take me forever to read it. But it turned out to be one of my two favorites, and it went fast, and I didn't want it to end. A wonderful book by a great writer.

Watership Down by Richard Adams (1969) - THE best book about rabbits you will ever read! Actually, it's not really about rabbits - it's about courage, society, class-struggles, oppression, utopia, dystopia, and the search for peace & meaning in this hectic, chaotic, adversarial existence. Great stuff!
A terrific book - Richard Adams' "Watership Down". Only book I've read where rabbits are portrayed realistically as villains and creepy death-gods. The movie's pretty good, too.

Watership Down is a heroic fantasy/political allegory novel about a small group of rabbits, written by English author Richard Adams. Although the animals in the story live in their natural environment, they are anthropomorphised, possessing their own culture, language (Lapine), and mythology. Evoking epic themes, the novel recounts the rabbits' odyssey as they escape the destruction of their warren to seek a place in which to establish a new home, encountering perils and temptations along...

The Hobbit- one of my all time favorite books!
Loved reading The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings during my childhood. I was thrilled with how the movies met or exceeded what I imagined the characters and middle earth would look like.
The Hobbit - a prelude to The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
It is a light read, and though there are books out there that are much better developed and written, this book really helps define the fantasy genre. It introduces the large world of middle earth on the fringes, and has a quick story line that keeps the reader entertained. Well worth reading, especially so you can be properly outraged at the upcoming film adaptation.
Now THIS is a book worth reading....

Reading: I am only half-way through this novel but it is captivating. The stories of four women set against one of the greatest Jewish tragedies of the common era -- it takes place in 70 CE. Though tragedy is impending - we know this from the start - the heart and honor of these four women, set in a time when women were property, witches or merely invisible, is a masterpiece of historic fiction. Meticulously researched, empathetically written and at once, transporting, Alice Hoffman has set a new bar for this genre.
The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman - This turned out to be the good read that I have been waiting for. It's The Red Tent only better. I RECOMMEND!
