    SYNTHESIZING - The next day, we talked about making Synthesis Sundaes. I mean, seriously…who doesn’t love ice cream?!?! I introduced this anchor chart and then we read “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. I think this is a GREAT story to teach synthesizing!!

Writing anchor charts. This is something that can be done as a classroom activity where student's brainstorm these ideas or look through mentor texts to see what tools published author's use. Posting the list on the wall can help student's when they begin writing a piece.
