Joe Rosenthal’s other Iwo Jima photographs

In honor of the 68th anniversary of the battle of Iwo Jima, we wanted to share some more images taken by the famous photographer. Here are some of Rosenthal’s lesser known photographs from Iwo Jima. Though they did not receive the recognition and fame like his pulitzer prize winning flag raising photograph, these images give the viewer a glimpse at the brutality the U.S. Marines endured for 35 long days.
