Backyard Scrabble "I like areas of double use,” says Sacramento architect Kristy McAuliffe. A friend helped her make this 5-foot outdoor Scrabble board with scored concrete in a wood frame.
Backyard Scrabble A homemade board game gives extra play to this patio "I like areas of double use," says Sacramento architect Kristy McAuliffe, and her 5-foot square Scrabble board rates at least a double-word score on the scale of inventive garden games. With the help of friend Keith Rogers, McAuliffe made a wood frame, then poured concrete and scored it into 3¾-inch squares separated by ¼-inch joints. After the concrete had cured for one month, she colored the squares using water... I love scrabble- how fun!

Reuse plastic milk jugs to irrigate your garden
Bury a plastic bottle holes in it to continuously water the soil around it. bewässerung
Terra cotta to spendy for ollas (buried jars that slowly water plants)? Try burying empty milk jugs with holes punched in them. Check out the instructions and reuse those plastic jugs.
How to Make Milk Jug Olla You need to put many, many little holes in your milk jug. Easiest way to do this is to fill your jug with water to within a few inches of the top, freeze it, and then get to work poking your holes. You can used a hammer and a small finishing nail to save electricity or a drill with a very thin drill bit. Drill or poke a hole every inch or so across the entire surface. Don't poke any holes in top two inches or so, because that will be above ground. Once you've made all of your holes, dig a hole that is as deep as the jug, with just an inch or two above ground. Place near enough to plants that the water reaches the roots. (Within a few inches of the base works best.) It's also a good idea to "plant" the olla first and then plant your vegetables or annuals around it. Once it is in place, fill it up, and put the cap back on. Check it every few days to see if it needs water, and top it off as necessary.
Rooting hydrangea cuttings - Would love to do this.
