MY CHILD'S SPECIAL NEEDS A Guide to the Individualized Education Program and Archived Information
Parents, make sure your child's foals are being met and surpassed. The school system houses our kids because they figure they have no hope. I know from experience. I've had to retain an attorney to get my son the education he deserves. I believed they were working with us for his betterment, surprise, they neglected to test him for over 4 years and based his IEP on an evaluation we paid for from CARD that was 5 yrs old!

Ten Red Flags To Listen For At An IEP Meeting - If you hear any of the above and you are in the US- just smile and ask them to put it in writing and explain why -because nothing will be put in writing that is against your child's federal rights. And if they don't- you put it in writing with the details. Keep a paper trail.

The iHeartLiteracy pin gives great ideas on how to incorporate technology into the classroom more organically. It gives very clear goals as to how to use technology as a tool with students rather than just another skill to learn. This could be applied to all subjects areas when using technology in the classroom.
8 Things Kids should Be Able to Do with Technology ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning Repinned by Venus Technologies Inc
What Should Teachers Do With Technology? Like this poster. Technology should be a tool to aid in learning. My school uses IXL to help math. I like to teach a math concept and then have the students practice that skill on IXL.
Digital Citizenship is a constant hot topic in education. I have researched it, blogged about it, and even wrote a paper on it for a past course. I think it is something I am constantly learning about and trying to teach students. I have compiled quite a few resources that may be useful for classroom teachers as they try to tackle the teaching of it in their classrooms.
We need to shift our thinking about technology in our classrooms -- Technology is a tool -- NOT a learning outcome.
Kimberly Brauner - In today's culture we tend to rely on technology more than needed. I thought this was a good list of how kids may take advantage of technology and what it is meant to be used for. "Technology is a tool, not a learning outcome." #NEWT4Business
This list justifies the good that technology does in the classroom. It shows that students aren't just using a computer for no reason, but each app that a teacher incorporates has a purpose that will make the student better. It would be a good idea to come up with this list at the beginning of the school year, and at the end, after students have used technology all year.
I think that this picture depicts almost everything we have covered in this course. I do not think though that there are right and wrong answers about having kids work with technology. I think that we as teachers need to have our students use technology for all the things listed on this picture. Over all, I have learned that technology in the classroom (using technology safely) is vital and is only going to grow more in the education systems.
Technology is a Tool, not a learning outcome. It is important that educators know how to use technology effectively in the classroom, especially in technological literacy. Some teachers just make students use technology to complete work but yet it is not enhancing their learning. Use technology to let students learning become more advanced and allow them to think more critically about different concepts through research. It is important in using technology that educators teach the safe ways of doing so. It is also important educators try to avoid sending students hope to complete technological tasks because of some families that do not have the technology like a computer or tablet to complete tasks.
