I don’t want to bring him into the sun, only to melt away on his side like Camille abandoned by Auguste. We know so many narratives where the student exemplifies the master and then flies away to freedom from the protective nest and reveals herself more gifted and prolific than her master. Not in the case of Camille Claudel though; abandoned by Auguste Rodin,

Camille Claudel, 1864-11943, at work. Artist and sculptor, Auguste Rodin took credit for several of her art pieces and had her committed to an asylum when she tried to tell people what he was doing.
Camille Claudel was born on December 8, 1864. A brilliant sculptor in her own right, no other woman had such an intellectual, artistic and erotic impact on Auguste Rodin's life like Camille Claudel. When Rodin would not leave his common-law wife for Claudel after a decade together, Claudel became furious. Without any professional or personal support, she descended into madness. She was institutionalized in 1913 where she remained until her death in 1943.

Camille Claudel (8 December 1864 – 19 October 1943) The sculptor and mistress of sculptor Auguste Rodin was called "a revolt against nature: a woman genius." While she and Rodin collaborated on art pieces, they had an 8 year affair.
Camille Claudel: artist, sister of French poet, Paul Claudel and lover of Auguste Rodin. Following a nervous breakdown after her separation from Rodin, Claudel was institutionalized by her brother and mother who resented her bohemian lifestyle which they felt had shamed the whole family. Claudel would spend the rest of her life in an asylum.
Camille Claudel (1864-1943), on the left, was a French sculptor, prodigy and lover of Auguste Rodin. She influenced his 'La Danaide' sculpture (which is so cool; have a look) Claudel suffered from a mental collapse in her 40's and died in an institution. Just look at her 'La Valse', it's wonderful.
Camille Claudel 1864 - 1943 French sculptor and graphic artist was the muse, pupil and lover of Auguste Rodin, as well as a major artist in her own right. After her breakup with Rodin in 1898, Claudel created some of her best sculptures, yet she grew increasingly reclusive and paranoid. In 1913 her family committed her to an insane asylum, where she remained for the last 30 years of her life.
“I sleep completely naked to make me believe you are here, but when I wake up it is not the same thing. Most of all, don’t deceive me with other women any more” Camille Claudel , French sculptor 1864 – 1943 She was the lover and muse of Auguste Rodin.
