The former Illinois Athletic Club Building was opened in 1908 and underwent at $25 million renovation in 1985 that added six stories. The stunning ballroom originally served as a dining room and has won numerous awards for architectural excellence. The space boasts 26-foot ceilings, marbleized columns and the original terrazzo dance floor. The School of the Art Institute took over the building in 1994. The ballroom's grand piano allegedly came from the former Playboy mansion.
