CDV Portrait of young siblings - Germany - c.1885 by Patrick Bradley 70, via Flickr

portrait of a young woman, c. 1856-1900. Possibly an after-death portrait? Photography was a new thing with the Victorian era. So taking photos of the dead, as a memento of them, became quite a thing. And the more times I look at this, the more I think that neutral, confidant air and posture is the result of the girl being a corpse.

Portrait of Istvan Reiner, taken shortly before he was killed in Auschwitz concentration camp, ca. 1943

Beautiful portrait of a father and his three children. The informal pose is unusual for that time period. And yet it shows the love of this father who doesn't mind getting down on the floor with his little ones. I love the way the boy is hugging his father from behind and the way the father is leaning into his girls, it displays such tenderness. Glasgow, Scotland. ca. 1867

Australian model caught distracted during a photo shoot when the first plane hit tower 1. What an epic photo. It’s so weird to think that normal things were happening on 9/11. People were walking their dogs, riding their bikes, models were doing photoshoots… and the planes hit.

I have to say this is one of the beautiful post Mortem photos I have seen yet. Photo by Alice M. Boughton, ~ 1910... The woman on the left is deceased while the woman on the right looks to be holding her. They look to be sisters. This is a beautiful picture though.
