Have you ever heard of #herdimmunity? Learn about this phenomenon and why immunization is so important for the health of everyone - not just ourselves.
Getting immunized doesn't just protect yourself, it helps protect everyone around you. Source: National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases - Community Immunity ("Herd" Immunity)
Herd immunity (or community immunity) describes a form of immunity that occurs when the vaccination of a significant portion of a population (or herd) provides a measure of protection for individuals who have not developed immunity.
Intriguing graphic on the impact of immunization in our communities. Community Immunity from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
This image shows the way herd immunity works. If all or most the population is vaccinated then it creates herd immunity and therefore reduces the likelihood of anyone getting the disease.
This represents the power of vaccines. It demonstrates how much it can positively effect a population from getting a particular illness in a very quick and effective way. If you get vaccinated your are also doing others a favor which is known as herd immunity.
The methods and rapidness of the spread of a disease is shown well here in this picture. Even with current parents refusing to get their children vaccinated, this last visual demonstrates that the herd immunity does not work very well even though it does contain the disease but there still will be consequences to individuals.
Here’s an infographic to understand the “herd effect” http://bit.ly/1w8l8EM #influenza #fluvaccine

Smart idea! Seriously! I've had 3 or more kids on antibiotics at one time and have always used a loose piece of paper to keep track of doses. This is brilliant!
**When the kids are sick sometimes I am the delirious one!! What a good idea!! Ever wonder if your child has already been given her medicine?? In this case, it was twice/day for 10 days. Just an idea - use a sharpie & mark it right on the bottle! :)
Sharpie on a medicine bottle - this makes so much sense! Antibiotics are usually only 7 to 10 days so this is perfect!
This is a great idea!!! Since I have started working! My hubby has to give the kids antibiotic when they are sick because im not there for the morning dose! This would help me keep track of those 10 day antibiotics!! Why didnt I think of this?? Thank goodness the girls havent hardly been sick this year! Knock on Wood!!!
