Gloves of ‘cordwain’ (white tawed goatskin), the flesh side outward and stained light brown. The cuffs covered with fawn silk embroidered with silver-gilt wire and seed pearls. The slits were made to display jeweled rings.
Gloves, early 17th c, Rijksmuseum BK-KOG-19-B goat leather dyed ochre, flesh side out. Sewn with green silk. Applied embroidered silk ribbon; tabs are edged in applied silk fringe (largely perished); gauntlet was lined in black silk satin (largely perished) and interlined with paper for stiffness.
