Remember who you are Art Print by Budi Satria Kwan. "Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?"

Can you remember who you were before the world told you who to be? When we were little we all had big dreams and thought we could be anything we wanted too. As we started being exposed to the outside world an image was painted in our minds of how we should be. Through commercials, ads in magazines, movies, and stores we had no choice but to slowly become what society wanted us to be. Our days of imaginary friends, being weird, and making forts outside were slowing coming to an end. We now were being introduced to materialism, fashion, trends, consumption, and what was considered to be "normal" and "cool." We didn't know it at the time but we were slowly becoming what society wanted us to be. We were being molded into something we were not but instead something that everyone else was. Our childhood dreams and passions were being replaced by the latest trends and a fight to fit in. The conditioning had started and it wouldn't end until one day we would look back and remember who we were before society told us who we should be. We are all unique in our own special way. We were all born with gifts and talents and something special to share with this world. We were not meant to be the same, act the same, or strive to be the same. Before all popular trends and fashions and the pressure to be "normal" who were you? What did you enjoy doing? Who did you want to be? What were your dreams and passions? We are society and society is us. We are shaping the world we live in by our thoughts, actions, and being the person we are. If we want things to change we must change. Look at who you were and see if you are living the way you thought you would be. Being back your childlike wonder and magic and create a life your younger self would be happy about. "Being yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Remember who you are. I love love love this quote. Sometimes we have to go back and try to figure out who we were as a child, the innocence, what we dreamed of before we cared what others thought, before the world and our surroundings really took an effect on us.

be nice. it's always been my struggle telling my past...much of it contains not so nice stories or experiences but does contain the most wonderful and beautful triumph, a happy life lived with some heartbreak but surely no regrets!

Need to remember this-------it's hard to remember when you have your head slammed into a wall over and over during a long weekend away, by a drunk who's arrogant, narcissistic, and thinks a good life is drinking a 12 pack of beer and smoking a pack of cigs every day!!! Some GREAT life, huh???

worth quoting..."Somedays we could tightrope across Manhattan, and other days we are too weary to clean our teeth. This is Normal. This is Natural."
