    That is not a good idea, the cotton ball could travel down the ear canal and become impossible to remove. You should put the directed amount of solution in the ear then rub the base of the ear a few times THEN use a cotton ball (or more than 1) to clean the wax and dirt from the ear.

    oh boy.. agree with @Heather Thiel on this one.. terrible idea. NEVER stick anything INSIDE your dogs ear..
