Movie #1: The Sound of Music. Okay, so the premise is I am alone on a deserted island. I will need something that will make my heart soar. SOM is my favorite movie. Julie Andrews voice is magnificent. The Austrian mountains are breathtaking. The musical score is exceptional. The themes are universal. The context is significant. The acting is wonderful. The outcome is uplifting. Perfect!

The Sound of Music (1965) - Even if you've never seen the movie, you know most of the songs. That's how much this film has influenced American culture. IMO Julie Andrews has one of the finest pure singing voices ever, male or female. Only Karen Carpenter compares, IMO.

When my brother and I were little, my mom was like Maria in The Sound of Music with us. She took us everywhere and had SO much patience. She still does everything with us, but I think we grew out of most of the sound of music type activities.

Remember when I was little and had only the copy that my mom recorded off tv? The one I memorized because I watched it over and over? Then, when the collector's DVD came out in college, I sat, SHOCKED, that there were NEW SCENES in it?!

The Sound of Music (1965) Maria! A woman leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to the children of a Naval officer widower. Beautiful, classic musical.
