Le Mont Saint Michel | France Located about a half mile off France's northwestern coast at the mouth of the Couesonon River, first built to serve as a church at the request of Bishop Avranches on October 16th 709. The 14th century Hundred Year's War made it necessary to protect the abbey with military constructions and so the castle began to grow. During the French Revolution the abbey became a prison and finally saw restoration during the end of the 19th century. Le Mont Saint Michel, France...seriously one of the coolest cities I've been to. When the tide is high it turns into an island and when the tide is low is has a huge beach all the way around it. Never saw it at night though.. beautiful.
France . Mont Saint Michel , Normandy. Well worth visiting, as long as you can avoid the tourist peak...
