Want to have a space for your home office but short on space? How about that spare room closet? Put a desk, shelves, etc put into a closet to make a private office area. Just close the doors when you are done! Paint the inside of closet a special color, and put some cork boards up to pin items on. This idea works great too if you have an armoire to convert into an office. Only thing with the closet office I don't like is usually there are no plug ins in closets! Handymen welcome!

This "closet office" appeals to my love of small spaces. I would love to open up my closet and be greeted by vintage wallpaper, a wicker desk chair, and a hidden workspace filled with all of my craft supplies! If I had the right closet, this would be DIY... for now "Dream Home" :) (I have the perfect closet to bad I wouldnt have any whare to put my clothes. :()

Great idea for small apartments! Keeping your office in the closet. Hide away your work behind the curtains!

girly office space - ok, I wold so not be able to do the pink walls - but it's a great space.

Great idea for a "cloffice" (closet + office) if you don't have an extra room for an office.

there's something about this home office i like, despite the fact that i could never ever handle wonky picture frames on the wall and that much clutter. (see bookshelf to the left.) nonetheless, as someone with small rooms upstairs and a house with two teachers with lots of books and files, this remains an inspiration of sorts.

Closet Office , closet, office, desk, organization, Closet we turned into a desk area so shed have more room. :) My husband made the desk and I painted everything with paint we used in her room. I used an old frame to sting fishing line across for pictures/notes, etc. I covered old school books with scrapbook and wrapping paper., Girls Rooms Design

I like how bright and sunny this room is. The rustic element is rather pleasant too. Maybe something to try. www.apartmentther...

Quoted from Better Homes and Gardens: Max out available space in an office closet with adjustable wire shelving. Use open baskets for supplies you access regularly and boxes with lids for infrequently used items. Divide papers to be filed in layered trays and set up file folders for items that require action in the upcoming month.

take doors off closet, paint, create shelves, install counter for desk area (look at Menards or Lowe's or Fleet Farm for 'odd sized counters' for sale), maybe mirror part of the back wall for 'light purposes, install outlets for plug-in stuff, slide plastic 3 or 4 drawer bins under counter for storage of office/scrapbook/craft stuff...voila!

Here's a cool idea: Turn an unused closet into a home office space that can be concealed behind a curtain when not in use. Thanks for sharing, Emily Hovis!
