wax bottle drinks ...childhood treat We actually went to the local grocery store and bought these for a penny each - thus "Penny Candy" was coined. Sad that today it is almost 2.00 for the same thing at a specialty store. Sickingly sweet liquid in a plastic bottle that you could then chew on after it was empty.
I remember my poor mother moving the table and chairs out of the kitchen and having to wax the floor, wait for it to dry, and then put all the furniture back in the kitchen. My, how times have changed!! And I can still remember the smell of this too!
Remember these?! Fruit-flavored candy sugar in fruit-shaped bottles. I used to LOVE these!
I remember Bob's Big Boy in the San Fernando Valley. There were three we would go to on Wednesday Cruise Night in the mid 60's. Canoga Park Bob's, then cruse Van Nuys Blvd. to Van Nuys Bob's, then back to Balboa Bob's on Balboa Blvd. to hang out on the grass in front until you got a table. Loved their Bob's Big Boy Hamburger, French fries dipped in their Roquefort Dressing and a Coke.
