DIY Vintage Wood Stain: Mason jar: 1/4 cup used grounds, fill it up almost to the top with vinegar, approx 3-4 cups of vinegar to 1/4 cup grounds. It is the interaction between the steel wool and vinegar that is really important, grounds just add a brown tinge. Can use tea (strong), white vinegar goes brown, apple cider grey-ish, balsamic greenish. Search "ebonizing wood" steel wool & vinegar
DIY - Aged Wood. You’ll need: Grade #0000 Steel Wool, Vinegar, Mason Jar, a pot of tea (cold). Put a hunk of steel wool in a jar and fill jar with vinegar. Let stand overnight. Then paint wood with tea, let dry, then paint with vinegar mixture. Let dry and it will change colour and look like old wood!
DIY barnyard wood. Beat up new wood if desired, then add Olympic brand Weathered Barnboard stain. Don't wipe off, leave til dry. (15 min). Dry brush primer lightly over top. Dry brush flat gray paint sporadically over top. Add a little black in paint and repeat. lightly sand. Coat with stain once more, seal and done!
