Kate Moss. In my view skinny not relevent. I lost 40 pounds...from 139 to 99~102 lbs and it is true that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. I am just over 5'2" and losing weight has moved me into a regular fitness routine and I feel better than I have in my whole life. I was skinny and anorexic in my past but this is not the same because I reached a healthy weight for me in a holisticd, balanced way.

There's an outcry from some to ban this image of Kate Moss. The problem is that such images are not a cause of dysfunction, so censoring them is well-meant but ineffective. The determination to interpret any information in a certain way is a symptom of a dysfunction, not a cause. People see what they wish to see. The example of that (from both "sides"!) is here http://pinterest.com/pin/79064488/ This was not pinned to a "thinspiration" board in this instance. Nonetheless, someone saw it and immediately proclaimed that the photo depicted an anorexic http://pages.citebite.com/q9r0u7n4cmmt I didn't think the woman in the photo looked anorexic, but the photo did indeed link back to a blog maintained by a girl who admitted to having an eating disorder. A bit more research revealed that the blogger had posted the photo as "thinspiration", but the photo itself was taken from a personal trainer's site! http://hitchfit.com/ I determined that by simply looking at the logo on the photo! Here's the entire entry on the trainer's site regarding the woman in the photo: http://hitchfit.com/2010-06-17/before-afters/hot-bikini-mom/ My point? #1: someone saw this on a fitness site and, due to her illness, interpreted it as "thinspiration". #2: Someone saw this on that "thinspirational" blog and pinned it as an inspiration among other *healthy* images. #3: Someone followed one link and, despite what the photo showed, interpreted the image as anorexic. Out of three people who used or discussed this image, two interpreted it according to what they chose to see rather than what the image actually depicted. Most crucially, in the very first instance, the anorexic blogger took a healthy image and used it to support her illness. The health status of those shown in the images was irrelevant to her dysfunctional thinking, so it's logical to infer that eliminating images that *could be interpreted* as unhealthy would be likewise irrelevant. Such self-censorship, while well-intentioned, is not only unrealistic: it's completely ineffective. Actual recovery depends on one's ability to interrupt their personal triggers rather than depending on the world to eliminate them. Some like to say that's selfish or heartless. In actuality, it's a far more realistic way to empower those in recovery. How to eliminate the entire issue? Stop criticizing bodies as too fat, too thin, too anything. You *should* be allowed your personal preferences. To censor those thoughts because someone *might* take offense is ridiculous. Regardless of the "public" (for now) nature of Pinterest, Thought Police shouldn't be anyone's option of choice.
