An existing slate terrace nestled amongst native oaks was retrofitted with a large water feature and native plantings. Water spills between generous square stepping stones that separate the two lower levels, and cast concrete benches placed at jogs in the patio repeat the subtle hand-layered concrete of the raised fountain basin. Meanwhile a generous filtration system with a UV sterilizer maintains water quality to allow for wading on hot summer days. - Huettl Landscape Architecture

I like this simple water feature apart from the floating balls which look like something out of a fairground side-show.

Great fountain, Laurent Perrier Garden ---love the way the edge is always neat and not splashed because of the vanishing edge.

I am sure it would be a hell of a time trying to get the leveling just right and making sure the ground is settled well to construct these cascading pools, but it would definitely be a splendid feature.

I would love to have a pond.

Forget waking up to the nudging nose a cat or dog — fish keep to themselves and won't wake you up at 5:30 a.m. on the weekend. A mesmerizing pet that you can visit at your leisure doesn't come often. But that's okay, we all love our four-legged friends and would never really trade them for a school of fish. Their calmness is just an added bonus.
