If you’re into the temples, then Hōryū-ji in Japan is certainly a must. It’s widely regarded as the world’s oldest wooden temple, built sometime the 600AD era, though supposedly a similar building stood here and burnt down around 100 years earlier. There are numerous picturesque buildings here besides the main pagoda, such as the Hall of Dreams, where supposedly Buddha one meditated.

Golden Hall and Five-storied Pagoda of Hōryū-ji are Japan's National Treasures. Hōryū-ji is a Buddhist temple in Ikaruga, Nara prefecture, Japan. It was registered as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Buddhist Monuments in the Hōryū-ji Area".
