Dolphin Island, or “Hiikuu Island” in half-Japanese is located a stone’s throw off the coast of Okinawa. The remnants of Dolphin Island‘s small aquarium can be found within the forlorn building; all of the tanks (and their occupants) are long gone however.

rural-ruins-orphanage. A photographer calling himself ‘boklm’ stumbled upon this abandoned orphanage in a small village to the south of Paris. The facility seems to have closed sometime around 1990. He says, “We saw stables, a barn half collapsed, a tennis court, some offices, small houses, a small church, something like a restaurant or canteen, kitchens, a few other buildings with rooms.”

The countryside is littered with abandoned structures, from weathered stables and barns about to collapse to stately manors that have fallen into ruin.
