What comes to mind when you think of soul mates? For most people, the mental image that is conjured includes two people, deeply in love, who are so attune to each other that agreeing on anything important is practically effortless. Each soul mate always puts the other first, and only has the other's best interest at heart. Their intentions toward each other are always pure and honorable.

colorized-old-photos ~ Unemployed Lumber Worker and His Wife 1939. Up until the 1970s, color photography was extremely rare, and so when we think about history prior to that time, we often envision it in black and white. Today’s technology now enables us to “colorize” historical photos, giving us our only chance at seeing what the world really looked like back then. And it was truly spectacular.
52 Colorized Historical Photos That Give Us A New Look At the Past - I have a hard time wrapping my head around how colorful the past was!

I stare out the window. My shirt is sticking to me. My hair is pulled back to relieve some of the heat. My heart beats faster. A quick glance at the clock tells me that it will happen soon. Mama and Daddy will be back with Ezra soon. He's home from War. I had to stay home to take care of my baby sisters, Rosemary and Violet, but I was okay with that, as long as my parents brought my brother home. "Soon", I whispered. Over and over.

My daughter always has this look about her. A weary look, one of deep thoughts and sleepless nights. She's always quiet when she gets like she is right now staring out of the window. Quiet but not silent. The quietest people have the most to say for they have the loudest minds...

May 23, 1934: Died, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. They were young, they were wild, and they captured the imagination of the American public. In the end, it took 130 rounds of ammunition to bring them down. "We opened fire with the automatic rifles," said members of the posse. "Then we used shotguns ... After shooting the shotguns, we emptied the pistols at the car... [The car] almost turned over. We kept shooting at the car even after it stopped. We weren't taking any chances."

Elevator 'girls' at Marshall Fields department store, Chicago, Illinois, 1947 ... yes, once upon a time there were actually people who ran elevators in just about every building. When they realized we were all smart enough to push the buttons ourselves ..... boom! Jobs lost! :-) See, it's not all about government. Sometimes jobs just disappear for logical cost-cutting reasons.
