Hey everyone, @alexscottphoto here with the last photo of my takeover today! As much as this trip through the rockies was a definitive point in my love for the outdoors and photography, I learned a lot about appreciating the little things. The views, smells, laughter and photos meant nothing unless you have someone to share it with. And after a long day of driving around, hiking to view points and getting soaked in rain, being able to watch my girlfriend relax and fall asleep next to me on…

Hello there, its @graywmitchellphoto for the last image of the day! This shot is of sunset at the famous Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, in California. At first glance you might not notice it, but one thing I love to do in my photography is to use really long exposures to exaggerate cloud movement. You can see it in the earlier image I posted, and you can also see it in this one! The way you pull it off is to use a tripod and something called a Neutral Density filter, which acts like…

Food Photography :: Yearning for comfort in a bowl? This one-pot, umami-packed soup fits the bill and it can be in your mouth in about 30 minutes. It’s inspired by one of my mom’s recipes, and my kids can vouch for the fact that she’s the best cook on the planet. (They remind me of this constantly.) Night after night for years on end, after long days of number-crunching at the office, my mother cooked amazing family-style Cantonese suppers. Each meal was capped off with a huge bowl of…

I was lucky enough to be born and bred in Byron – back when it was still possible to surf The Pass with a handful of friends, the road to Tallows was dirt and bananas still stood on the hillsides of Wategos. The ocean and the lifestyle surrounding it were pivotal in shaping me as a person and a photographer. This rings true even in my earliest memories – sitting with Mum on the beach eating apricots – the shimmering surface of the water as I first stepped in – the feeling of cool relief on…

Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety There are so many aspects of wildlife photography that depend solely on the amount of time that a photographer is able to spend in the field. The old adage of ‘the harder I work I luckier I get’ perfectly sums up the benefits of committing oneself to long term projects and I of course understand that this is a luxury that not everyone can afford. Sometimes however photographers can get lucky very, very quickly but this tends to be the…
