It is frequently said that the grief of bereaved parents is the most intense grief known. The grief caused by their child's death is not only painful but profoundly disorienting-children are not supposed to die. An intense parental attachment has been formed between parent and child no matter how young the child is at the time of death. Others need to try and understand the intensity of this attachment, the depth of the parents' grief, and the magnitude of their sorrow.
