Radial Weavings. I did something like this last year on a paper plate. Worked well, but I LOVE the finished look here with the bowl. The hole punch detail on the edge adds a fun element!

The Lake Forest Louvre: Third Grade RADIAL Weavings - like the hole punch fringe additions - add to my circle weaving project.

BEST circle weaving: students are weaving around the loom itself, not yarn looped thru the slots. Students don't weave the entire loom full either, which fits their attention span and my tolerance for fixing mistakes. Only prob. I see might be the flimsiness of the construction paper, maybe use colored cardstock, printed thru the ink jet printer for the lines.

might need to trace a template onto stronger card and snip the slots with scissors

variation on the cd weaving but the kids make the base from clay. great also with cardoard instead of clay

Combining weaving and storytelling - brilliant lesson on weaving with intention. Great embedded literacy!

3rd grade weaving Cool, solid weft--I was going to say warp but I wemembered that the weft goes weft to wight...:) I'd do that with youngers (K-1)

First, students removed strips of burlap on all sides to create fringe. To create a space to weave, students removed two strings of burlap. Then, they used plastic needles to weave their yarn (the weft) over and under the warp. I glued small dowel rods to the top of each student's weaving and the following class I showed them how to add a handle and fringe at the bottom as an option.

third grade art | 2nd & 3rd Grade Art / 3D I have never seen this project done with shading. I like!

Weaving with a hulla hoop I'm sure many fabrics could be upcycled for this project.

Circle weaving. Love these. My daughter made one as a 3rd grader a couple of decades ago. I kept it & mailed it to her this year. Hope she keeps it. val, 6/12
