    This graphic organizer is great for teaching students to summarize when a story has a strong problem and solution. To make it a more effective anchor chart, there should be a title and an explicit explanation of SUMMARIZING at the top.

Today we made a "Gimme 5" summary togetherI had given them handouts similar to the chart paper pictured, and they recorded the details on the hand while I was reading. When I was done the chapter, groups created a Gimme 5 summary on chart paper.

Characters for an Epic Tale - I like the idea of using this as an adjective lesson. Provide an example for kiddos, then have them create their own using adjectival phrases to describe the characters. Don't use this one in the class tho, a few questionable types!

This poster would be great to teach students about summarizing, as the NYS ELA Common core standards indicate : 4.RL.2 and 5.RL.2 asks students to summarize a text they have read. This poster can be a reference tool when students start summary writing.
