Legendary architect Tadao Ando is the only person to have won the four most prestigious prizes in his field namely the Pritzker, Carlsberg, Praemium Imperiale, and Kyoto Prizes. Combining traditional influences from his native Japan with the best aspects of Modernism, his unique style and vision lends itself to futuristic buildings made from a combination of good honest materials such as concrete, wood, water and natural light all to stunning effect.

Data has never looked so cool! London in Motion, a Day in the Life of London's Public Transit! | #datavis #visualization #transportation
This animation, produced by Jay Gordon, does a great job of capturing the daily flows of London’s commuters. It combines the 16 million or so daily transactions made with London’s Oyster cards with vehicle-location data from the city’s 8,500 buses to infer journeys of approximately 3.1 million Oyster users. After inferring the times and locations of each bus boarding and alighting, bus and rail transactions are combined to reconstruct each cardholder’s daily travel history.

Not abandoned apparently, but still creepy. Aillaud Towers, Nanterre Paris
The Tours Aillaud (aka Aillaud Towers) The word suburb, ‘banlieue’, conjures up something very different in France to the US. Burning cars and desolate tower blocks, rather than SUVs and low-rise strip malls. "...a piece of social scar tissue, gimmicky, condescending alphaville modernism. Stick ‘em in concrete boxes and give them some concrete to play on, and then paint it all bright colors...”

Grand Central Terminal (colloquially called Grand Central Station) is a commuter rail terminal station at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. It is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms. Although the terminal has been properly called “Grand Central Terminal” since 1913, many people continue to refer to it as “Grand Central Station”, the name of the previous rail station on the same site.
