Derek Jeter signed a National Letter of Intent to play for his beloved Michigan Wolverines in 1992. He took classes at Michigan. Bill Freehan, University of Michigan baseball coach, former All-Star catcher of the Detroit Tigers and a two-sport star for the Wolverines, knew Jeter was one of the top high school players in the country. Jeter asked for Freehan's advice when the NY Yankees offered him a huge contract. Freehan said "Take the offer." Jeter did. Jeter is still a big U of M fan!
