The ball-bearing treehopper (Bocydium globulare), native to South America. My favourite "go home evolution, you're drunk" insect. The purpose of the balls on the pronotal extensions has yet to be definitively explained.

A beautiful tiger moth attracted to one of the lights at our Nantucket moth blitz last summer. I was lucky enough to get a shot with the gorgeous peach and red underwing exposed, too. It's difficult to tell species apart in this genus so I'm just calling this Apantesis sp. for now.
