  • Cassandra Serrano Russ Mills, an illustrator and painter from the UK, creates amazing artwork that's a combination of ink sketches and digital paint in photoshop. With illustrations as many as 43, Mills also known as Byroglyphics demonstrates the role of identity and and how we see ourselves as humans or animals. With ideas of modernism, Mills uses rough brush strokes to create the concept of uneasiness and uncertainty. Abstractionism is life.

Ikenaga’s paintings showcase exquisite textile pattern designs. His subjects are always women of modern times, but at the same time, the Nihonga painting style reflects ancient Japanese traditions, which gives his works a timeless feel. He creates his art by dropping Japanese paints into the canvas that he calls “linen cloth”, with a Menso brush.

From Portraits of Women by Ikenaga Yasunari. These are really awesome works by a modern Japanese painter. I love the echo of traditionalism with a more modern naturalism/realism. The colors are very true to the historic paintings - as is the beautifully detailed pattern-work. The compositions reflect the beautiful simplicity of the traditional portraiture.

Edna, tiny original acrylic/oil portrait by Elizabeth Bauman. Like a bit of history, or imagination. #rowenamurillo
